about

Boudicca is one of the most iconic women in British history, perhaps even 'The Mother of Britain.' She briefly united its tribes in politics and arms as only the Druids had done before in spirit. She was the Celtic queen of Icenia (modern Norfolk, Suffolk and parts of Cambridgeshire). Hers was a woman's realm (nothing like the magazine of the same name ) dispossessed, flogged, her daughters raped and her people enslaved by a Roman Empire expanding north in AD 60.

Rome - then led by that model patriarch Nero - did not recognise matriarchy (see its attitude to Cleopatra) as a legal or sane system of government.
